Financial Aid

Chelsea Soccer Club offers partial scholarships to families who need them. Scholarships are open
to new and existing members. The intent of the scholarship is to enable participation for those who
would like to enroll their child but are financially unable to do so and also to help retain players
already enrolled in the program whose family’s financial circumstances have changed and
assistance is needed.

In order to help as many families as possible, only partial scholarships will be granted. Funding for
the scholarship program is provided by fundraising, donations, and grants. The application will be
reviewed and awarded by a Committee made up of the registrar and two additional board members.
The process is confidential and no other board members (except the treasurer), coaches or families
will be made aware of the scholarship applicants or recipients. Completed applications should be
returned to the registrar.

Please complete your application in full, and email the following items with your application:  1) Copy of most recent Tax Return 2) The most recent pay stubs for all employed family members and 3) Documentation of any additional non-wage income such as child support, etc.

The scholarship committee will use the current year Federal Poverty Level Guidelines when
reviewing applications. Families whose income exceeds the federal guidelines by more than 300%
will not be considered for scholarship.

Every Chelsea Soccer Club player is a vital and valued part of our family, so please do not hesitate
to apply for a scholarship if the need is there.

To maintain team integrity, there will be no refunds after July 1.

Additional Programming

Technical development is the foundation of the game of soccer. Too many times we see players barely touching the ball in practices, getting bored because they don’t feel involved in the training session, getting overwhelmed with too many tactical concepts they cannot understand. If you want to play this game right, you need to start by completely dominating the ball and having full control of it. And no matter how good you are and at what level you play, you will have to continue to work on your individual technique, because there will always be room to improve. That’s what our Technical Training program stands for. We want our players to come for an hour and have as many touches on the ball as they possibly can, so when they leave they feel they are a little better of a soccer player than they were before the start of the session. Sessions will be communicated to club members before the Fall and the Spring seasons.

At Chelsea Soccer Club, we recognize the pivotal role goalkeepers play on the field, and we are committed to providing specialized training that hones their skills and elevates their game. Our dedicated goalkeeper training program, expertly hosted by Coach Katie, is designed to nurture the unique talents of our goalkeepers and equip them with the tools to excel on the pitch.

What is Chelsea Soccer Club Goalkeeper Training? Chelsea Soccer Club’s Goalkeeper Training is a comprehensive program tailored to the specific needs of goalkeepers, focusing on technical proficiency, strategic decision-making, and mental resilience. This specialized training goes beyond general team practices, offering goalkeepers a unique opportunity to refine their craft under the guidance of Coach Katie, a seasoned expert in goalkeeper development.

Program Highlights:

  1. Technical Proficiency: Our training program places a strong emphasis on honing fundamental goalkeeper techniques, including shot-stopping, distribution, aerial command, and one-on-one situations. Through structured drills and exercises, goalkeepers develop the skills necessary to dominate their position.

  2. Strategic Decision-Making: Coach Katie instills a deep understanding of game situations and decision-making processes specific to goalkeepers. From reading opposition plays to effective communication with the defense, goalkeepers are empowered to make strategic choices that positively impact the outcome of the game.

  3. Mental Resilience: Goalkeeping requires a strong mental game, and our program addresses this crucial aspect. Coach Katie provides guidance on managing pressure, building confidence, and maintaining focus, helping goalkeepers develop the mental resilience needed to thrive in high-stakes situations.

Coach Katie, our experienced and dedicated goalkeeper coach, leads each session with a passion for developing the next generation of elite goalkeepers. With a background in coaching and playing at the highest levels, Coach Katie brings a wealth of knowledge to the training ground. Her hands-on approach, attention to detail, and commitment to player development create an environment where goalkeepers can thrive and reach their full potential.

What is futsal?

Futsal, officially recognized as the 5v5 indoor soccer variant by FIFA, is played on a hard court without walls, using a smaller, low-bounce ball. This sport stands out as an exceptional tool for honing soccer technical skills. The playing surface, unique ball, and rules of futsal place a strong emphasis on improvisation, creativity, technique, ball control, and precision passing in tight spaces. Notably, it provides more ball touches than any other soccer activity, continually challenging players to make quick decisions on the field.

Countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Spain, known for their remarkable success in international soccer, have embraced futsal for many years. Today, an increasing number of countries and clubs, both in the United States and beyond, are recognizing and giving the sport the attention it rightfully deserves.

Types of futsal events

During the Winter season, we have one main event, included in your club fees. Event details will be posted on your TeamSnap page once they are scheduled. Teams can expect one event per week throughout the season, typically comprising:

  • Futsal practices: Your team will either have individual team training sessions or may join  with another team, depending on the number of participants.

What to bring

At every futsal event, remember to pack three essentials: shin guards, a water bottle, and flat-soled shoes. These flat sport shoes can be any type, like sneakers or tennis shoes, although we recommend using futsal-specific shoes, which are essentially soccer cleats with a flat sole for the best performance.

In case of inclement weather, such as rain or snow, we kindly request that you bring your event shoes in a bag and put them on before the activities start. This simple step helps us maintain dry and safe courts, reducing the risk of slipping.

And here’s the best part: you don’t need to worry about bringing your own soccer ball. We’ll provide futsal-specific balls for all our events.

TBD – Winter leagues – Winter 2024/2025
